New residents in Maleny district very welcome!

Perhaps you are new to the Maleny district and would like to make some friends, to meet some locals and other new residents?

Perhaps you are an established resident who, as our population grows, would like to keep that sense of community and neighbourliness that is a hallmark of this area?

Either way, there are events in Maleny where we can get to know the people living around us, including both new residents and 'old-timers', in the local neighbourhood as well as the district generally.

One monthly event is the ‘Welcome Mat’ night at the Upfront Club on the 3^rd Thursday of every month. This is an open-to-all comers, low-key, friendly gathering at which some people might be playing board-games but others might just be having a cuppa/dinner and watching or chatting. The point is that there is a warm welcome to anybody, whether you are a family or someone on your own, new to town or third generation! Bring board games if you have them (if you wish).

Dinner is served from 5.30pm ($12 upwards), games played anytime. The evening is hosted by Terri, Penelope ('Nep'), Cath and Nic, who will chat, find you somewhere to sit, and introduce you to others.

Another project is the “neighbourhood picnic scheme”, which helps to organise a neighbourly picnic in the park in new housing estates in Maleny (or anywhere on the Range).
